Missa – ‘Angelus ad pastores’ a workshop for singers & instrumentalists directed by Andrew Carwood

The Music will be selected from the works of Hieronymus Praetorius (Hamburg, 1560 – 1629) who, Andrew Carwood says, is one of the great unsung geniuses of the period. The centrepiece of the day will be the Missa ‘Angelus ad pastores’ for 8 voices and we may also sing the double choir ‘Videns Dominus’, his setting of the Lord's Prayer and one of his magnificent polychoral motets.

It will be helpful, but not essential, if instrumentalists are willing to join the singers for at least part of the day. Viols, recorders, cornetts, sackbuts, curtals, shawms, theorbos and continuo are all welcome. Pitch: A=440.

Andrew Carwood is director of The Cardinall’s Musick, one of the finest young vocal groups to have emerged in recent years.  As a professional solo and consort singer he brings his wealth of experience to this workshop.   His passion and commitment to music and his enthusiastic ability to engage both amateur and professional performers combined with his great sense of fun always ensure that his workshop events are inspiring and exciting occasions.
