Rosenmüller (c1619 - 1684) is one of the most colourful composers
of the early baroque.
The Vesper psalms and Magnificat we shall be exploring this weekend
demonstrate his mastery: the two-choir Dixit Dominus
and the 5-voice Magnificat are amongst Rosenmüller's most accomplished
dramatic sacred music, whilst the Laetatus sum and Laudate Pueri
show a more elegant and simple style.
The workshop is for voices (solo and tutti) and players of cornett,
sackbut, curtal, violin, viola (tenor viol) cello (bass viol) violone,
organ(s) and chittarone. A few recorders (who should also be
willing to sing) may also be accommodated.
Pitch will be A = 440.
