Thames Valley Early Music Forum Workshops

The TVEMF 2001 Christmas Workshop on December 15th will feature early 17th century Christmas music including the Christmas Story by Heinrich Schütz and his Hodie Christus Natus Est (click to hear it in MIDI form)

At a previous Christmas workshop we studied the motet Virgo Prudentissima by Heinrich Isaac c.1450-1517 A very substantial 6-part motet based on a cantus firmus that Isaac also used for a mass. There are some extended duets and some interpolated homophonic sections in praise of the Emperor Maximillian at whose court Isaac worked.
